Eric Ferguson is an Indigenous Australian. He grew up in a big family with nine children. Eric lived in different towns in New South Wales, like Rappville, Byron Bay, and Griffith.
He started playing rugby league at a young age. Eric played for a team called Yenda. In 1968, he was the captain of the under-18s team. Later, while playing in Newcastle, he was noticed by the Eastern Suburbs team.
Playing for Eastern Suburbs
Eric Ferguson played as a fullback. Sometimes, he also played as a winger. He joined the Eastern Suburbs team in 1974. He played for them until 1977. During this time, he did not play in many first-grade games.
Success with South Sydney
After leaving Eastern Suburbs, Eric moved to the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Here, he got more chances to play in first-grade games. He became a very good goal-kicker for the team.
