Eric Johnson Jones, born on February 7, 1966, is a former professional basketball player. He is an American-Spanish athlete who played as a Point guard. Eric had a short but notable career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Utah Jazz during the 1989–90 season.

Early Life and Family

Eric Johnson was born in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up with a passion for basketball. His brother, Vinnie Johnson, is also a well-known basketball player. Vinnie had a very successful career in the NBA.

Eric attended Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Brooklyn. After high school, he continued his basketball journey in college. He played for the Baylor team from 1984 to 1986. Later, he transferred to the Nebraska team, playing there from 1987 to 1989.

Professional Basketball Career

Eric Johnson's professional career began in 1989. He was drafted into the NBA that year. He joined the Utah Jazz for the 1989–90 season. Playing in the NBA is a dream for many basketball players.

After his time with the Jazz, Eric played for several other teams. He played in different leagues, showing his skills across various countries.

Playing in North America

In 1990 and 1991, Eric played for the Halifax Windjammers. He also played for the Rapid City Thrillers in 1991. From 1991 to 1992, he was with the Birmingham Bandits. Later, in 1995, he played for the Yakima Sun Kings and the Chicago Rockers. These teams were part of different professional basketball leagues outside the NBA.

Playing in Europe and South America

Eric also had a significant part of his career playing internationally. He spent several years in Spain with Valencia. He played for Valencia from 1992 to 1994, and again from 1996 to 1997, and once more in 1999. This shows he was a valued player for the team.

He also played for Chorale Roanne in France in 1995. In 1996, he played for Besançon BCD, also in France. In 1997 and 1998, Eric played for Andino Sport Club in Argentina.

Later in his career, he returned to Spain, playing for Girona from 1999 to 2000. He then joined Gijón Baloncesto from 2000 to 2001. Eric also played for Lokomotiv Vody in Russia from 2001 to 2002. His last team was Galicia Ferrol in Spain, where he played from 2002 to 2003. Eric Johnson retired from professional basketball in 2003.
