Eric Riley (born June 2, 1970) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He was chosen by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1993 NBA draft. Eric played for several teams in the NBA, including the Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics.
He was part of the Houston Rockets team that won the NBA championship in 1994. Eric was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He played high school basketball at St. Joseph High School. Later, he played college basketball at the University of Michigan.
At Michigan, Eric was part of the famous Fab Five teams. These teams reached the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship final game twice, in 1992 and 1993.

College Basketball Career
Eric Riley played college basketball for the University of Michigan. In 1991, during his second year, he was a top player for the team. He led the entire Michigan team in both rebounds and blocked shots.
He was also second in rebounds for the 1990–91 season in the Big Ten Conference. Eric received special recognition for his play that year. When the Fab Five players joined the team, Eric became a key reserve player. He led all reserve players in points, rebounds, and blocks.
Professional Basketball Journey
Before the 1993 NBA draft, the Houston Rockets got the rights to draft Eric Riley. Eric spent his first professional season with the Rockets in 1993–94. This team was coached by Rudy Tomjanovich, who also played for Michigan.
The Rockets won their first NBA title that season. Eric was a member of the team, but he was on the injured list during the playoffs. After leaving the Rockets, Eric joined the Los Angeles Clippers. During his career from 1993 to 2004, Eric played for five different NBA teams. He also played for many professional teams outside the United States.
After Basketball: High Rise Foundation
In 2009, Eric Riley started a non-profit organization called High Rise Foundation (HRF). HRF is a charity that helps young adults. Its goal is to guide and support them through sports programs and clinics. The foundation also offers academic tutoring to help young people succeed in school.
