Erick Green was born in Inglewood, California. He grew up in Winchester, Virginia. He played basketball for three years at Millbrook High School. For his last year, he moved to Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Virginia.
Green helped both schools win state championships. In 2009, he was named the best player in his league. He also earned the title of EA Sports All-American.
College Career at Virginia Tech
When Green started college at Virginia Tech in 2009, he didn't score many points. This made him work even harder to improve his game. Each year, he got better at scoring, getting rebounds, and making assists.
By his senior year (2012–2013), Green was leading all college players in scoring. He was even considered for the ACC Player of the Year award. Even though his team didn't win many games, Green was still named the ACC Player of the Year by the media.
