Erl is a small municipality (a type of town or local area) located in western Austria. It is home to about 1,400 people. You can find Erl about 15 kilometers (9 miles) north of the town of Kufstein. It's in the northern part of the Tyrol region, right on the border with Bavaria, Germany.
Erl has a very long history, with people living there since the third century. The town is even mentioned in old documents from the year 788 AD. Today, Erl is famous for its special cultural events, including a traditional play and music festivals.
