Erna Viitol was born in a farming family. Her birthplace was Ala, a village in Valga County, Estonia. Later, this area became part of Tõrva Parish.
She traveled to Stockholm, Sweden, to study. In 1943, she came back to Estonia. She then continued her studies in Tallinn. She attended the Tallinn School of Applied and Fine Arts.
Her Art and Sculptures
Erna Viitol created many beautiful sculptures. One of her famous works is a bronze bust of Ellen Niit. Ellen Niit was a well-known Estonian writer.
Viitol also made portraits of other important people. These included Heino Kiik, Lilli Promet, and Aino Kallas.
