Errol Rajesh Arthur, born on January 15, 1972, is an American lawyer. He is currently an associate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He has held this important role since 2023. Before that, he was a magistrate judge for the same court from 2010 to 2023.

Errol Arthur's Education

Errol Arthur studied at the University of Maryland. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree there in 1994. Later, he went to Howard University School of Law. He received his Juris Doctor degree, which is a law degree, in 1998.

Errol Arthur's Career Path

After law school, Errol Arthur worked as a clerk for Judge Mary A. Gooden Terrell. This was at the District of Columbia Superior Court from 1998 to 1999. From 1999 to 2002, he was a staff attorney. He worked at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. This service helps people who cannot afford a lawyer.

Private Law Practice

On December 15, 2021, President Joe Biden chose Errol Arthur for a new role. He nominated him to be a Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. President Biden nominated Arthur to fill the position left by Judge José M. López.

A hearing about his nomination took place on July 12, 2022. This hearing was held before the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. On September 28, 2022, the committee approved his nomination. The Senate then confirmed his nomination on December 15, 2022. He officially started his new role on January 17, 2023.
