Early Basketball Years
High School Highlights
Erving Walker played basketball at Christ the King High School in New York. In 2006, during his second year, he was chosen for the first-ever Boost Mobile Elite24 event. This event features top high school basketball players.
College Career with the Gators
From 2008 to 2012, Erving played college basketball for the Florida Gators. He was a point guard and wore jersey number 11.
During his final year in 2012, he was named to the All-SEC Second Team. This means he was one of the best players in the Southeastern Conference. He once held the record for the most assists at Florida with 547. This record was later broken in 2018. Erving is still the fourth-highest scorer in Florida Gators history, with 1,777 points.
In his senior year, the Gators team made it far in the NCAA Tournament. They reached the Elite Eight, which is the round before the Final Four. They lost to Louisville in a close game. That season, Erving averaged 12.1 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Erving Walker was not chosen in the 2012 NBA draft. However, he still started his professional career.
Starting in Europe
In the summer of 2012, he signed with Prima Veroli in Italy. This team played in the Italian Second Division. He played 20 games there, averaging 17.9 points and 3.6 assists per game.
In October 2013, he joined Stelmet Zielona Góra in Poland. He stayed with them for a few months before moving to Élan Chalon in France in February 2014.
Playing in France and Turkey
On June 23, 2014, Erving signed with JDA Dijon Basket for the 2014–15 season in France. He played 37 games in the French League. He averaged 17.6 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game. Even with his strong performance, Dijon finished in 10th place and did not make the playoffs.
In July 2015, he moved to Turkey. He signed a one-year contract with Büyükçekmece Basketbol in the Turkish Basketball Super League. The next year, in July 2016, Walker signed with SIG Strasbourg in France for the 2016–17 season.
Returning to Turkey
On June 27, 2017, Erving Walker returned to play for Büyükçekmece Basketbol in Turkey. During the 2017–18 season, he averaged 18.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. In July 2018, he signed with Pınar Karşıyaka, another Turkish team.
The Basketball Tournament
Erving Walker has also played in The Basketball Tournament (TBT). This is a special annual basketball tournament where teams compete for a $2 million prize. It is shown on ESPN.
- In 2017, he played for the Kentucky Kings. He averaged 20.0 points per game and helped his team reach the second round.
- In 2018, he played for Team Fancy. He averaged 11.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 2 rebounds per game in two games. Team Fancy also made it to the second round before losing.
