Escobar is a town in the Paraguarí Department of Paraguay. It is part of the Escobar District. You can find it about 14 kilometers (about 9 miles) from the city of Paraguarí if you take the Villarrica Route.

Why it's Called Escobar

The town is named after General Patricio Escobar. He was a very important person in Paraguay's history. General Escobar was one of the heroes of the Paraguayan War, a big war that happened a long time ago. He also served as the president of Paraguay in the late 1800s. Before it was officially founded and named Escobar, the area was known as "Yukeri."

Escobar has some useful places like a Health Centre, a Police station, and a Post Office. Many rural areas are part of the Escobar District, such as Arroyo Pora, Chircal, Guazú-Cua, Mbocayaty, and General Aquino.

One cool place to visit is the Itá Coty spa. It has natural pools and a cool stream that flows down from the hills. The area is surrounded by lots of plants and rocks. Visitors can go camping there, and there are places to eat and sports fields for fun activities.

The town also has a very old train station that has been there for hundreds of years!

Every year on October 1st, there's a special celebration for Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús. People have a procession through the main streets of the town. There are also people on horseback and special statues from different churches in the Escobar area that join the parade.

Emigdio Ayala Báez was a famous composer and musician from Escobar. He wrote well-known songs like "Mi dicha lejana" and "A mi pueblito Escobar."
