Essex (formerly, Glen Essex) is an locality in Humboldt County, California. It is located on the Mad River 3.5 miles (5.6 km) northeast of Arcata, at an elevation of 75 feet (23 m).
History
A post office was established on May 29, 1902, merging with Blue Lake a year later.
