It sits quite high up, at an elevation of 5,223 feet (which is about 1,592 meters) above sea level!

The History of Etna

Etna has an interesting past, even though it's a small community. It was first settled a long time ago, in the year 1875.

Early Settlers and First Name

When people first started living here, they called the area West Fork. The very first people to settle down in West Fork were two individuals named Valison Tanner and Alma C. Tanner. They helped start this new community.

How Etna Got Its Name

Later on, the community decided to change its name from West Fork to Etna. The new name was chosen by someone who worked as a local mail carrier. Mail carriers traveled through different communities, and one of them helped give Etna its permanent name.
