Park History and Growth

The etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest first opened its ramps and rails on December 13, 2003. It was a special project created by the city of Lake Forest and the shoe company etnies. The park was designed by a company called SITE Design Group, which helps plan cool urban spaces.

In 2009, there was exciting news: the skatepark would get even bigger! Plans were made to add about 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2) more space. This expansion would make it one of the largest skateparks in the whole country and definitely the biggest in California. The expansion cost around $632,500. It was finished and celebrated with a special event on August 20, 2011.

The skatepark has even won awards! In August 2010, OC Parenting Magazine named Etnies the best skatepark of the year. This was its fourth win in a row! You might have even seen the etnies skatepark in video games like Skate 2.
