Eudora Stone Bumstead (born August 26, 1860 – died 1892) was an American poet. She also wrote hymns. Many people remember her as "the children's poet."
Eudora started writing at a young age. When she was ten years old, she earned money for a poem. It was called "Signs of Spring." This poem was published in a magazine called Our Young Folks. She wrote alongside other young writers for this magazine.

Early Life and School
Eudora Stone was born in Bedford, Michigan on August 26, 1860. When she was young, her family moved to Nebraska. She grew up remembering the wide-open spaces of the West. Her parents were very supportive. They helped her with her writing.
She went to public school. Later, from 1878 to 1879, she studied at the Nebraska State University.
Writing Career
For a while, Eudora was a successful school teacher. While she was at Nebraska State University, she met William T. Bumstead. They got married in 1880.
After getting married, she did not have much time for writing. But when she did write, it was mostly for young readers. Her poems appeared in popular children's magazines. These included St. Nicholas Magazine and The Youth's Companion. She wrote for The Youth's Companion for several years.
Personal Life
Eudora Bumstead came from a Quaker family. Like Quakers, she enjoyed a quiet life. She was also very sincere. She did not have many close friends. She was very knowledgeable and thought deeply about things. She liked to discuss ideas in a kind way. She only accepted things as true if they made sense to her.
Her family lived in Beatrice, Nebraska for some time. Later, they moved to Ontario, California with their daughter. Eudora Bumstead passed away in 1892. She was buried at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario.
