Discover Eugene Cross Park
Eugene Cross Park is a busy sports venue. It has special areas for fans to watch, including terraces and a main stand. There's also a clubhouse where people can relax, grab a drink, and even buy team gear on match days. The park is easy to find, located near the B4486 road and the Ebbw River.
A Look at Its History
The story of Eugene Cross Park began in November 1919. A group called the Ebbw Vale Welfare Association bought a piece of land known as "Bridgend Field." This land, which was about 6 acres (or 2.4 hectares) in size, became known as the Welfare Ground.
In 1973, the ground was renamed to honor a very important person, Sir Eugene Cross. He was the Chairman of the Welfare Trustees for a long time and made a big difference to the park.
What's in a Name?
In September 2021, a company called Ciner Group made a special agreement with Ebbw Vale RFC. For three years, the stadium was known as the Ciner Glass Community Stadium. This kind of agreement helps sports clubs get funding.
