Eurico Ângelo de Oliveira Miranda (born June 7, 1944 – died March 12, 2019) was an important person in Brazilian politics and sports. He was known for his strong leadership. He served as the president of the famous football club Vasco da Gama two times.

His first time as president was from 2001 to 2008. Later, he returned to lead the club from 2014 until 2018. Before becoming president, he worked in different roles within the Vasco da Gama club. He was also a federal deputy, which is like a representative in the Brazilian government.

Eurico Miranda had a long history with the Vasco da Gama football club. In 1980, he worked as an advisor to the club's president. He wanted to become president himself and ran for the position in 1982. However, he was not elected at that time.

He tried again in 1985 but was defeated once more. Despite these early challenges, he continued to be a key figure. From 1986 to 2000, he served as the vice-president of Vasco da Gama's football division. This role gave him a lot of experience before he became president.

Eurico's Time as President

Eurico Miranda became president of Vasco da Gama in December 2000. He was re-elected two more times, in 2003 and 2006. During his first period, he led the club for several years until June 2008.

After some time away, he returned to the presidency of Vasco da Gama in December 2014. He continued in this role until January 2018. His leadership was a big part of the club's history.

His Role in Politics

Besides his work in sports, Eurico Miranda was also involved in politics. He was a Progressive Party federal deputy for the state of Rio de Janeiro. This means he represented the people of Rio de Janeiro in the national government.

He was elected to this position in 1994 and again in 1998. He served as a federal deputy from 1995 to 2002. He tried to be elected again in 2002 and 2006 but was not successful. In 1990, he also ran for federal deputy with the Liberal Party, but he was not elected then either.

What is Euriquism?

"Euriquism" is a special term in Brazil that describes Eurico Miranda's unique way of doing things. It's about his ideas and how he put them into action. It also refers to groups of people who supported him, even if they weren't officially part of the Vasco da Gama club.

It's a way to understand his strong leadership style and the impact he had on both football and politics in Brazil.
