World Skate Europe (WSE) is a big organization that helps manage and organize roller skating and inline skating sports across Europe. It used to be called the European Confederation of Roller Skating (CERS).
World Skate Europe is part of an even bigger group called World Skate. This means they work together to make sure roller sports are fair and fun for everyone.
Because of a conflict in 2022, World Skate Europe decided that athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus could not join their competitions. Also, no events were held in Russia or Belarus that year.
Sports World Skate Europe Manages
World Skate Europe is the main group that looks after six different roller sports in Europe. They help set the rules and organize competitions for these exciting sports:
- Artistic Roller Skating and Inline Figure Skating: This is like ice skating, but on roller skates! Skaters perform amazing jumps, spins, and dance moves.
- Freestyle Skating: This sport involves skaters doing cool tricks and moves around cones or other obstacles.
- Inline Hockey: Similar to ice hockey, but played on inline skates. Teams use sticks to hit a puck into the opponent's goal.
- Inline Speed Skating: This is a racing sport where skaters try to go as fast as they can on inline skates around a track.
- Roller Hockey (Quad): This is played on traditional quad roller skates. It's another team sport where players use sticks to score goals.
- Skateboarding: This sport involves riding and performing tricks on a skateboard.
Note: Skateboarding has a special role and does not have a representative member in the main committee of World Skate Europe.
Groups Within World Skate Europe
World Skate Europe has different smaller groups, called subsidiaries, that focus on specific sports. Each group helps manage its sport and organize events. Here are some of them:
