Eva is a small, unincorporated community located in Texas County, Oklahoma, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place where people live that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. You can find Eva along State Highway 95, about two miles north of U.S. Route 412. It's part of the Oklahoma Panhandle, which is the narrow strip of land at the very top of Oklahoma.
History of Eva
A railroad line, called the Beaver, Meade and Englewood Railroad, was built through Eva by the end of 1930. This railroad helped connect Eva to other places. The railroad line stopped being used in 1972.
However, a special building in Eva, the Eva Woodframe Grain Elevator, was built next to these tracks. This elevator was used to store grain from local farms. It was later added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's considered an important historical site that should be preserved.
Notable People from Eva
- Caroline Henderson (1877–1966) was a school teacher, farmer, and author. She lived on a farm just east of Eva. She is known for writing letters and articles that described what life was like for farmers in the Oklahoma Panhandle during difficult times, like the Dust Bowl.
