Eva is a small place in West Virginia, a state in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Ritchie County.
A Look Back in Time
Eva has a simple but interesting history. In 1894, a post office was opened there. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This post office helped the community stay connected.
The person in charge of the post office, called a postmaster, decided to name the community. He chose to name it after his daughter, Eva Gill. So, the community of Eva got its name from a young girl! The post office served the area for many years, finally closing its doors in 1950.
