Eva's Journey to Law
When Eva was young, her father wanted her to become a doctor. At first, she thought it was a good idea. But as she grew older, she learned about many different jobs. She became very interested in being a lawyer or a judge.
Eva noticed that there were no female judges or lawyers in her community. She knew her family might not agree with her choice. In her community, being a doctor was seen as the best job. Engineering was also respected. But the legal profession was not as popular.
Even though it might cause problems, Eva decided to follow her dream. She applied to law school and was accepted. In 1993, before she even finished her degree, Eva met a famous female lawyer. This meeting inspired Eva to dedicate her life to human rights.

About Mizan Legal Group
The Mizan Legal Group for Human Rights was started in 1998. Eva Abu Halaweh was one of the lawyers who founded it.
Before Mizan was created, many people who faced human rights problems needed help. Eva and other lawyers realized that the problem was bigger than just helping individual cases. They saw that some laws themselves needed to be changed to better protect human rights. So, they decided to work on changing these laws.
At first, Mizan Group helped with human rights issues in general. Over time, the lawyers became experts in helping specific groups of people. These groups include young people, orphans, and refugees.
