Eva Chen was born in 1980. She is an American journalist and a popular author of children's books. Today, she works at Instagram as the director of fashion partnerships. Before that, she was the editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine. She also worked as the beauty and health director at Teen Vogue.

Growing Up and School
Eva Chen grew up in New York City. Her parents came from Taipei and Shanghai. They owned a business that imported and exported textiles. Eva says her mom helped her love fashion from a young age.
Eva went to the Brearley School. Then she studied at Johns Hopkins University. She first planned to study medicine. But she later changed her mind and studied English. She also earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.
Her Amazing Career
While in college, Eva worked as an intern for Harper's Bazaar magazine. After graduating in 2001, she joined Lucky magazine. This was a new shopping magazine at the time. She started by checking prices and sellers for products. Later, she became the editor-in-chief.
Eva then worked at Elle for three years. She was in the beauty department there. After that, she became the beauty editor for Teen Vogue.
Leading Lucky Magazine
At Lucky magazine, Eva Chen made history. She became the youngest editor-in-chief ever for the magazine. She also became the first person to lead a business part of the magazine called Lucky Shops. She was both the editor-in-chief and the chief creative officer.
Working at Instagram
In July 2015, Eva Chen joined Instagram. Instagram is a social media app owned by Facebook. Her job was to create partnerships with fashion brands.
Today, she is the Head of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram. She has helped launch many fashion features on the app. For example, you can now shop for clothes directly from influencers' posts. She also helped create the Instagram Shop account.

In 2020, Eva Chen gave a speech at her old university, Johns Hopkins University. This was for their graduation ceremony.
Children's Books
Eva Chen is also a successful author of children's books. Her book I Am Golden (2022) is very special. It helps Asian American children feel proud of themselves. It teaches them about self-love and how important they are.
