Evan Tlesla Adams (born November 15, 1966) is an Indigenous Canadian who is both a talented actor and a dedicated doctor. He is a Coast Salish person from the Tla'amin Nation, a First Nations community near Powell River, British Columbia. Many people know him best for his acting roles in movies by Sherman Alexie, especially as Thomas Builds-the-Fire in the 1998 film Smoke Signals. He also played Seymour Polatkin in the 2002 film The Business of Fancydancing.

Famous Roles and Awards
Evan Adams won an Independent Spirit Award in 1999 for his very first big role in Smoke Signals. This award was for "Best Debut Performance." He also won an award from Los Angeles Outfest in 2002 for his role in Fancy dancing. These awards show how talented he is as an actor.
Other Acting Work
In Canada, Evan Adams has acted in many television shows. These include The Beachcombers, Da Vinci's Inquest, Neon Rider, and The L Word. He has also performed in plays on stage, such as Lear and Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing.
He appeared in the 1990 TV movie "Lost in the Barrens." He was also in a documentary film called Just Watch Me: Trudeau and the '70s Generation. In this film, he shared his experiences growing up as a young First Nations person in Canada.
Evan Adams has written several plays, including Dreams of Sheep and Dirty Dog River. These plays have been performed in Canada and other countries.

Helping Communities
Evan Adams has worked a lot with health programs for First Nations people in Canada. This includes teaching about health and helping people with health challenges. In 2002, he earned his medical degree from the University of Calgary. He then completed more medical training at St. Paul's Hospital/UBC. He also earned a special degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University.
Important Health Roles
In April 2007, Evan Adams became the first-ever Aboriginal Health Physician Advisor for the province of British Columbia. This was a very important role. In April 2012, he was made the Deputy Provincial Health Officer for British Columbia. This meant he helped oversee health for the whole province. On December 1, 2014, Evan Adams became the Chief Medical Officer of the First Nations Health Authority in British Columbia. In this role, he leads efforts to improve health services for First Nations people.
