Eveleen Tennant Myers (born November 21, 1856 – died March 12, 1937) was a talented English photographer. She was known for taking pictures of her family and friends.

About Eveleen Myers

Eveleen Tennant was the third daughter of Charles Tennant and Gertrude Barbara Rich Collier. Her sister, Dorothy Tennant, was also an artist. In 1880, Eveleen married Frederic William Henry Myers. He was a scholar who studied ancient Greek and Roman culture, wrote poems, and researched unusual mental abilities.

Eveleen and Frederic had two sons and one daughter. Their elder son, Leopold Hamilton Myers, became a novelist. Their daughter, Silvia Myers Blennerhassett, also became an author.

Before she started photography, Eveleen Tennant was a model for famous painters. She posed for artists like George Frederic Watts and John Everett Millais. These artists were part of a group called the Pre-Raphaelites.

Her Photography Work

Eveleen Myers began taking photographs in 1888. She taught herself how to use a camera. She mostly took pictures of her family members and people who visited their home. Her photos give us a peek into her family life and the people she knew.

After her husband passed away in 1901, Eveleen stopped taking photographs. She then spent her time working on publishing her husband's writings.

Where Her Photos Are Kept

Today, many of Eveleen Myers' photographs are kept in important places. The National Portrait Gallery, London has over 200 of her photographic portraits. They also have about 30 portraits where Eveleen Myers herself is the subject.

The Tate museum in London has paintings of Eveleen Myers. These include the portraits painted by Watts and Millais.
