Her Education and Early Art

Eveline went to Newport Girls High School. She then studied science at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. Even though she studied science, she also loved art and learned it in her free time.

She took art lessons at the Aberystwyth Art School in 1912 and 1913. In 1916, she spent six weeks learning art at the Stanhope Forbes school in Newlyn. In 1913, she won a top prize at the National Eisteddfod for a public fountain design. After finishing her studies, Eveline worked as a teacher for six years in Cornwall and Wales.

Working as a Botanical Artist

In 1927, Eveline got a special job as a botanical artist at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales. This means she drew plants for the museum. She worked there for a long time, until 1959.

During her time at the museum, her beautiful drawings were used in many of their books and magazines. For example, her illustrations appeared in the 1961 book Welsh Timber Trees. She also drew many pictures for books about fungi. Even today, her artwork is still used in museum publications.

Recognized for Her Work

Eveline Annie Jenkins was a member of the South Wales Art Society. Her art was shown in a special exhibition in 1955. This exhibition traveled around to show modern Welsh paintings and sculptures.
