Evensville got its name from an early settler. People think it might have been named after Evan Evens, Jr., who lived a long time ago. Or maybe it was named after his son, Joseph Smith Evens, or even his grandson, John Haws Evens. John Haws Evens was actually the first person to run the post office here!
Before it was called Evensville, this community had a different name: Darwin. It was known as Darwin until the year 1878.
