Evgeniy Levchenko (born on January 2, 1978) is a former professional Ukrainian soccer player. He was known for playing as a Midfielder. After his soccer career, he also appeared on the Russian TV show The Bachelor.
Playing for Clubs
Evgeniy started his soccer journey in 1993 at a local club called Metalurh Kostiantynivka. The next year, he moved to Shakhtar Donetsk, which is one of the top soccer clubs in Ukraine.
In 1996, Levchenko went to a Russian club, CSKA Moskva. From there, he moved to Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands. He also played for Helmond Sport and Cambuur Leeuwarden on loan. He returned to Vitesse Arnhem from 2000 to 2003.
After that, he joined Sparta Rotterdam in 2003. In 2005, Levchenko moved to another Dutch club, FC Groningen. He played there until 2009. Later, he played for FC Saturn Moscow Oblast in Russia.
In 2010, Levchenko signed with Willem II in the Netherlands. In 2011, he moved to Adelaide United, a club in Australia. He scored his first goal for Adelaide United in an Asian Champions League playoff game in February 2012. He left the club in March 2012.
Evgeniy Levchenko officially retired from professional soccer on January 30, 2014. He decided to study marketing instead. Later, on July 1, 2019, he became the president of the Dutch trade union for professional soccer players. This union helps players with their contracts and rights.
Playing for His Country
In 2001, Levchenko was chosen to play for the Ukraine national team. He was part of the team trying to qualify for the 2002 World Cup. He played his first game for Ukraine against Norway. Overall, he played 8 games for his country.
Life Outside Soccer
In 2001, Evgeniy Levchenko became a citizen of the Netherlands.
