A Look at Ewha Girls' High School's History
Ewha Girls' High School began as a mission school for girls. It was called Ewha Hakdang. Mary F. Scranton founded it on May 31, 1886.
Over time, the school grew. It started offering classes for college students too. Later, the college part became its own school, which is now Ewha Womans University. In 1900, a building for students and staff to live in was finished. The current principal, Kim Hye-jeong, became the school's 15th principal in February 2017.
