Jeffrey Abel (born on April 29, 1986), known as Excision, is a Canadian DJ and electronic music producer. He is famous for his powerful sound systems and amazing visual shows at his concerts. Excision started his music career in 2006. His first song, "Warning," came out in 2007. He used to release a special "Shambhala" mix album every year until 2016. After that, he started his own music festival called Lost Lands and still releases annual mixes. He also founded two record labels: Rottun Recordings and Subsidia Records.

Excision also created a music group called Destroid. This group is known for its futuristic robot suits and heavy, powerful sounds. Destroid released an album called The Invasion. Most of the songs on this album were made by Excision, often working with other artists.

Excision's Music Journey

Early Mixes and First EP

Jeffrey Abel started his music journey by releasing mixes. His first mix, "Darkside Dubstep," came out in 2006. The next year, he released "Ruttun Dubstep." Both mixes featured different dubstep songs. In 2008, he released his first "Shambhala Mix." In 2009, Excision released his first EP, called "Boom," on his own record label, Rottun Recordings.

Collaborations and Albums

In 2010, Excision worked with DJ Downlink and rapper Messinian on a song called "Heavy Artillery." They also made another song together called "Reploid." In May 2011, Excision and Downlink released an EP called "Existence." Later that year, in November, Excision released his first full album, X Rated. This album came out on deadmau5's record label, mau5trap.

To support the album, Excision went on the "X Tour" across North America in early 2012. A remix version of his album, X Rated: The Remixes, was released in September 2012. Around this time, he also formed the dubstep supergroup Destroid with Downlink and KJ Sawka. Their first album, The Invasion, came out in May 2013. They also released their first song, "Destroid 11. Get Stupid."

Amazing Stage Shows

In January 2013, Excision showed off his "Executioner" stage. This was a huge stage, 28 feet wide and 15 feet tall. It had cool video projections and 40 lasers. He took this amazing stage on a four-month tour across North America.

On November 15, 2013, Excision brought a massive 100,000-watt sound system to an event called Boomfest in Colorado. In January 2014, he started another tour across North America. For this tour, he used his "Executioner" stage again, but this time with an even bigger 150,000-watt sound system.

More Albums and New Productions

In 2015, Excision released his second album, Codename X, on his Rottun Recordings label. In 2016, he debuted a new tour and production system called "The Paradox." This new show traveled across North America, selling out many venues.

On October 25, 2016, Excision released his third album, Virus. This album had 16 songs and featured collaborations with artists like Dion Timmer and Space Laces. His fourth album, Apex, came out on August 14, 2018. It took two years to make and included 14 songs. Excision said this album was a way to celebrate everything he had achieved in his career.

In June 2019, he announced an EP with Dion Timmer called Breaking Through, which was released on June 22. In September, he announced another EP with Wooli called Evolution EP, released on September 13.

In November 2019, Excision announced his new audio and visual show called "The Evolution." This show debuted on January 31 and February 1, 2020, in Tacoma, Washington.

In 2020, Excision released his second song with Illenium, called "Feel Something." This song also featured the band I Prevail. He also released "Resistance" with Downlink, their first collaboration in three years. In September 2020, Excision launched his new record label, Subsidia Records. He released three music collections with 118 bass songs. He also put out a long mix from his Lost Lands: Couch Lands livestream.
