The Story of Extreme Pita
Extreme Pita was started in 1997 by two brothers, Alex and Mark Rechichi. The very first Extreme Pita restaurant opened its doors in Waterloo, Ontario. It was near Wilfrid Laurier University.
Growing Across Canada
After opening, Extreme Pita quickly started to grow. They opened many new locations across Canada. This happened between 1997 and 2003. Their fresh and healthy options became popular. They even started to compete with bigger fast-food places like Subway and McDonald's. By 2007, there were about 200 Extreme Pita stores in Canada.
Expanding to the United States
In 2003, Extreme Pita began to open restaurants in the United States. Their first U.S. location was in Arizona. Since then, they have opened more stores in places like California, New York, and Texas. Many of these new locations are run by franchise owners.
