Ezel's Story: A Look Back

Ezel was officially started in 1882. Its name, "Ezel," comes from a rock mentioned in the Bible. Eli Pieratt, who was the first postmaster, chose this name when the post office opened in 1875.

Today, Ezel is home to Ezel Elementary School. It also has the Blackwater Volunteer Fire Department, which helps keep the community safe.
