Félix Dja Ettien Yohou (born September 26, 1979) is a retired professional footballer from the Ivory Coast. He was a talented right midfielder, known for his great energy and strength on the field. He spent most of his career playing for Levante in Spain, where he played over 300 matches. Because he lived in Spain for many years, he also held a Spanish passport.
Club Career
Ettien was born in Abidjan, a city in Ivory Coast. When he was playing for the Ivory Coast Under-20 team in a big tournament called the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship in 1997, a Spanish club named Levante UD noticed him. They signed him and another player from his country.
Even though he faced some difficulties early in his career, Ettien quickly became one of Levante's most important players. In his first season, he played seven games. The team was unfortunately relegated to a lower division that year.
During his 11 years with Levante, the team was twice promoted to a higher league and twice relegated back down. Ettien was always a key player for them. In the 2006–07 season, he played in almost every game and scored two goals, helping his team avoid relegation from La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. In July 2008, he left Levante because the club was having serious money problems.
After taking a break from football for over a year, Ettien tried out for a team in Romania in 2009, but it didn't work out. In January 2011, he signed with a Spanish team called UD Alzira.
International Career
After playing for the Under-20 national team, Ettien also played for the main Ivorian national team. He earned six caps (which means he played in six international matches) and scored one goal. He played in qualification games for the 2002 FIFA World Cup against teams like DR Congo and Madagascar.
Personal Life
After his football career, Félix Ettien tried a few different businesses. On October 19, 2018, he started working as a bus driver for the Royal Spanish Football Federation. This organization is led by Luis Rubiales, who used to be Ettien's teammate at Levante.
