Félix de Almeida Mendonça (born March 23, 1928 – died June 26, 2020) was a Brazilian politician and engineer. He was often known simply as Félix Mendonça. He came from the state of Bahia, Brazil.

A Career in Public Service
Before becoming a politician, Félix Mendonça studied Civil Engineering. He attended the Federal University of Bahia from 1951 to 1955. This education helped him understand how cities and projects work.
Serving as Mayor
From 1963 to 1966, Mendonça served as the mayor of Itabuna. As mayor, he was in charge of running the city. He made decisions that affected the people living there.
Working in the State Assembly
In 1966, he was chosen to be a member of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia. This is like being a representative for your state. He served in this role from 1967 to 1971. Here, he helped make laws for the state of Bahia.
Becoming a Federal Deputy
In 1982, Félix Mendonça was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. This is a very important role in the national government. He represented the state of Bahia in the capital. His first term as a Federal Deputy lasted from 1983 to 1987.
Trying for the Senate
In 1986, he tried to become a member of the Brazilian Senate. This is another important part of the national government. However, he did not get enough votes to win that election.
Many Terms as Deputy
Even though he didn't win a Senate seat, he was re-elected as a Federal Deputy in 1990. His second term was from 1991 to 1995. He was very popular and was re-elected four more times in a row! This happened in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006.
Retiring from Politics
After serving six terms, which is almost 25 years, as a Federal Deputy, Mendonça decided not to run for re-election in 2010. He officially retired from politics the next year, in 2011, when his last term ended.
Family Life and Passing Away
Félix Mendonça was married to Maria Helena Mendonça. They had three children: two daughters and one son.
His son, Félix Mendonça Júnior, also became a politician. He is currently serving his third term as a Federal Deputy for Bahia, just like his father.
Félix Mendonça passed away on June 26, 2020, in Salvador. He was 92 years old. He died due to health problems related to COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil.
