Fígols is a small town, also called a municipality, in the comarca of Berguedà. It is located in Catalonia, Spain. This town is found north of Cercs, high up in the mountains. It sits above the beautiful Llobregat valley.
One important activity in Fígols is mining. People dig for a type of coal called lignite here. This lignite is then sold for different uses.
Close to Fígols, you can visit the Cercs Mine Museum. It's a great place to learn about mining history.
A famous historical figure, Ramon Vila Capdevila, is buried in Fígols. He was known for his actions during a difficult time in Spanish history. A special plaque was placed at his burial site on July 15, 2000. It honors his memory and others who fought for freedom.
