FL Lady Bug (1945–1974) was a famous Quarter Horse mare. She lived from 1945 to 1974. Even though she never raced or competed in a horse show, she became well-known because her babies were very fast.

About FL Lady Bug's Life

FL Lady Bug was a sorrel colored mare. She was born in 1945. W. A. Yeager from Woodward, Oklahoma, was her breeder. When she was first registered, her owners were Bill and Alive Likins from Davis, Oklahoma.

Her father was a horse named Sergeant. Her mother was Yeager's Lady JA. This made FL Lady Bug related to two horses named Billy McCue and Silver through both sides of her family.

Her Amazing Foals

FL Lady Bug had fourteen foals (baby horses) in her life. Eleven of her foals started races. Ten of those foals won races!

One of her daughters, Top Ladybug, became a Champion Quarter Running Two Year Old Filly. This means she was the best two-year-old female Quarter Horse racer. FL Lady Bug also had three foals who won important stakes races. Ten of her foals earned a "Race Register of Merit." This award shows they were very good at racing.

What's really cool is that each of these ten award-winning foals had a different father. This shows how special FL Lady Bug was as a mother.

Honors and Legacy

FL Lady Bug passed away on March 1, 1974.

In 1999, FL Lady Bug was honored by being added to the AQHA Hall of Fame. This is a very special award for horses who have made a big impact on the Quarter Horse breed.
