Fabian John Blattman (born 28 December 1958) is an amazing Australian Paralympic athlete. He became a quadriplegic after a motorbike accident. Fabian first played bowls, then switched to athletics. He has set many world records and won two gold medals at the Paralympics.

About Fabian Blattman
Fabian Blattman was born on December 28, 1958. His hometown is Narrandera, New South Wales, Australia. He went to Springwood High School. After school, he started an apprenticeship in 1975.
In 1978, Fabian had a motorbike accident. This accident caused him to become a quadriplegic. He spent a year and a half getting better at the Mt Wilga Rehabilitation Centre. After that, he moved back home with his parents. His family even added a lift to the house. This helped him reach his bedroom on the third floor. Fabian now travels all over the world by himself. He also enjoys playing table tennis for fun.

Starting with Bowls
Fabian Blattman began his sports career with bowls. In 1985, he competed in a bowls event. This was at the Royal North Shore Paraplegic Games.
Wheelchair Athletics Achievements
Fabian started wheelchair athletics to get fitter. He competed at the 1988 Seoul Games. There, he finished fifth in his heat for the Men's 200 m event. He also took part in the Stoke Mandeville Games in 1989 and 1990.
In 1990, Fabian won a gold medal in the 4x100 m relay. He also earned two bronze medals in the 100 m and 200 m events. This was at the World Championships in Assen, Netherlands.
Paralympic Medals
Fabian has won many medals at the Paralympic Games:
- At the 1992 Barcelona Games, he won a silver medal in the 4×100 m event. He also got a bronze medal in the 4×400 m event.
- At the 1996 Atlanta Games, he won a gold medal in the 1500 m event. He also earned a silver medal in the 800 m event. For his gold medal, he received a special award called the Medal of the Order of Australia.
- At the 2000 Sydney Games, he won another gold medal in the 400 m T51 event. He also got a silver medal in the 1500 m T51 event. Plus, he earned a bronze medal in the 800 m T51 event. That year, he received an Australian Sports Medal.
World Championship Success
Fabian also excelled at World Championships:
- In 1998, he won the Men's Marathon (T51) event. This was at the World Championships.
Other Races and Records
In 2002, Fabian won the T51 Quads event. This was at the Arrive Alive Summer Down Under Wheelchair Track and Road Racing Series. He finished the 10k race in 37 minutes and 52 seconds. He also competed in the 2010 Optus Grand Prix in Canberra.
Fabian won the Oz Day 10K Wheelchair Road Race T51 event nine times! He first won in 1992. Then, he won every year from 1995 to 2002.
Fabian Blattman has held several world records in athletics:
- 1990: He set records in the 4x100 m and 4x400 m events. This was at the 1990 Stoke Mandeville Games.
- 1991: He set a record in the 1500 m event.
- 1995: He set a record of 2:40.15 in the men's T51 800 m event. This happened in Etobicoke, Canada.
- 1998: He set records of 05:01.49 in the 1500 m and 16:51.81 in the 5000 m. These were at the Summer Down Under meeting in Sydney.
- 1999: He set a record of 16:46.95 in the 5000 m. This was also at the Summer Down Under meeting in Sydney.
Fabian received a scholarship from the Australian Institute of Sport. He had this scholarship for athletics from 1994 to 2000. His coach was Andrew Dawes. Andrew also coached other Paralympic gold medalists like Louise Sauvage and Greg Smith.
