Fabien Joseph Frankel, born on April 6, 1994, is an actor from England. He is famous for playing Ser Criston Cole in the HBO fantasy show House of the Dragon. This show started in 2022 and is still ongoing.
Early Life and Learning
Fabien Frankel was born in Chelsea, London. His father, Mark Frankel, was an English actor. His mother, Caroline Besson, was an advertising executive from Italy and France. Fabien's family background includes Jewish relatives from Iraq, India, Russia, and Poland.
When Fabien was two years old, his father sadly passed away in a car accident. His mother raised Fabien and his younger brother, Max, in London. They spoke French at home. Their mother helped them discover movies by taking them to the cinema every week.
Fabien studied acting at two well-known schools. First, he took a one-year course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Then, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2017.
Acting Career
Fabien Frankel started his acting career on stage in 2017. He performed in a play called The Knowledge at the Charing Cross Theatre in London.
He first appeared on screen in 2019. This was in the romantic comedy movie Last Christmas. In the same year, he got a main role in a TV show pilot. A pilot is a test episode for a new TV series. He played Theo Sipowicz in a possible spin-off of the show NYPD Blue for ABC.
In 2021, Fabien played Dominique Renelleau in The Serpent. This was a true crime drama shown on BBC One and Netflix. Variety magazine even called him a "Brit to Watch" in 2021.
Since 2022, Fabien has been playing Ser Criston Cole. This character is a knight from the Dornish Marches. He is in the HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon. This show is a prequel to Game of Thrones. It is based on George R. R. Martin's book Fire and Blood. Fabien also starred in the independent romance film Venice at Dawn with Greta Bellamacina.
