Facundo Conte (born on August 25, 1989) is a famous Argentine former professional volleyball player. He played as an outside hitter, which is a key attacking position in volleyball. Facundo is well-known for winning a bronze medal with the Argentine national team at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

About Facundo Conte

Facundo was born in Vicente López, a city in Argentina. He comes from a family of volleyball stars! His father, Hugo Conte, was also a professional volleyball player. Hugo even won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games with the national team. Facundo finished his high school studies in Olivos, Argentina.

Facundo's Volleyball Journey

Facundo Conte started his journey in volleyball at a young age. He first played for the Argentina national team in 2007. This was during the U19 World Championship, where his team finished in 4th place. Later that year, he joined the senior national team for the 2008 America's Cup.

Early Success with National Teams

Facundo was also part of the junior national team that won the 2008 South American Championship. This was a huge win because they beat Brazil in the final. It was the first time Argentina had won that tournament in 26 years!

In 2009, Facundo played in his first World League tournament with Argentina, where they finished 5th. That same year, he helped Argentina get third place at the U21 World Championship. This was the best result for Argentina in that tournament's history!

Playing for Clubs Around the World

After his early success, Facundo started playing for different volleyball clubs. He joined Zinella Bologna in Italy, where his father, Hugo, was his coach.

In 2013, Facundo signed a contract with PGE Skra Bełchatów in Poland. He had a very successful time there:

  • He won the Polish Champion title in 2014.
  • His team won the Polish SuperCup in October 2014.
  • In 2016, he won the Polish Cup.

After three seasons in Poland, Facundo moved to China to play for Shanghai Golden Age. He played there for two seasons and helped them win the Chinese Championship twice. In 2017, he also played for El Jaish in Qatar for a short period.

Olympic and Pan American Games Achievements

Facundo Conte has also achieved great things with the Argentine national team.

  • In 2015, he won a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games.
  • One of his biggest achievements was winning a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This was a very proud moment for him and his country.
  • He also won a silver medal at the 2023 Pan American Games.
  • In 2023, he won a gold medal at the CSV South American Championship.
