Fadil Ferati (born May 10, 1960 – died January 30, 2010) was an important leader from Kosovo. He was the Mayor of Istok, a town in Kosovo. He was also a top leader in a political group called the Democratic League of Kosovo. People knew him because he won every election he ran in!

Biography
Early Life and Education
Fadil Ferati was born in Istok in 1960. He went to primary school in Gurrakoc, which is also in Istok. He then attended high school in Istok. Later, he studied economics at the University of Prishtine. He finished his studies in 1985.
Start of Political Career
After college, Fadil Ferati worked as an accountant for a few years. In the late 1980s, he became a big supporter of allowing many different political groups in the former Yugoslavia. He helped create the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and set up its local offices.
In 1990, he was chosen to be part of the LDK leadership in Gurrakoc. By 1992, he became the head of the LDK in Gurrakoc. He also joined the LDK's main leadership team for the whole Istok area. In 1995, he became the head of the Municipal Finance Council.
Leading the LDK in Istok
Fadil Ferati continued to rise in the LDK. In 1997, he was elected as the head of the LDK in the municipality of Istok. He was re-elected to this position later on. He also became a member of the LDK's General Council, which is a bigger leadership group.
Mayor of Istok
After the NATO intervention in 1999, new local governments were set up in Kosovo. In December 1999, Fadil Ferati became a co-leader of the Istok Municipal Council. The LDK won the local elections in 2000. Because of this, Fadil Ferati was elected as the President of the Municipal Assembly of Istok. He was re-elected to this role in 2002.
In 2005, he was again chosen to lead the LDK branch in Istok. He also became a member of the LDK's National Presidency. In 2006, he was elected as the Deputy President of the LDK. He held this important position until he passed away.
In the 2007 elections, people directly voted for Fadil Ferati to become the Mayor of Istok. He served as mayor until his death in January 2010. He was known for never losing an election he ran in.
Family Life
Fadil Ferati was married to Drita Ferati. They had three children: Ilir, Bese, and Triumf. His son, Ilir Ferati, later followed in his footsteps and became the mayor of Istok in 2021.
