Fahrettin Koca (born on January 2, 1965) is a Turkish doctor and politician. He served as the Minister of Health for Turkey's 67th government.
Early Life and School
Fahrettin Koca was born on January 2, 1965, in a village called Ömeranlı, in the Kulu District of Konya Province. He went to primary and secondary school in Konya. He finished high school in Bursa.
After high school, he studied at Istanbul University Medical School. He graduated in 1988 and became a medical doctor. He then specialized in the health and diseases of children at the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Medical School.
His Career as a Doctor
Fahrettin Koca became a pediatrician, which is a doctor who treats children, in 1995. He worked as a doctor and also as a medical director in different health places.
He was the head of the Board of Trustees for Istanbul Medipol University. This university was started in 2009 by a group he helped create, called the Education Health and Research Foundation. He is also a member of several important groups for doctors and hospitals.
Becoming a Politician
After the elections in 2018, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chose Fahrettin Koca to be the Minister of Health. He started this important job on July 10, 2018. He worked as the Minister of Health until July 2, 2024, when he resigned. After he left, Kemal Memişoğlu, who was the Istanbul Provincial Health Director, took over his role.
