Fahrettin Koca, born on January 2, 1965, is a doctor and a politician from Turkey. He served as the Minister of Health for Turkey's 67th government. This means he was in charge of all health-related matters for the country.
Early Life and School Days
Fahrettin Koca was born on January 2, 1965. His family lived in a village called Ömeranlı, in the Kulu area of Konya, Turkey. He went to school in Konya for his early years. Later, he finished high school in Bursa.
In 1988, he graduated from Istanbul University Medical School. After that, he became a medical doctor. He then chose to specialize in child health and diseases. He completed this special training at the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Medical School.
His Career as a Doctor
Koca became a pediatrician in 1995. A pediatrician is a doctor who takes care of children's health. He worked as a doctor and a medical director in different hospitals and health centers.
He was also the head of the board for Istanbul Medipol University. This university was started by a foundation he helped create. He is part of several important medical groups. These include the Turkish Pediatrics Institution and the Pediatric Metabolism and Nutrition Association. He also helps lead groups for private hospitals and university hospitals.
Political Journey
After the general elections in 2018, Fahrettin Koca was chosen for a very important job. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appointed him as the Minister of Health. He officially started this role on July 10, 2018.
As Minister of Health, he was responsible for Turkey's healthcare system. He worked in this position until July 2, 2024, when he resigned. After his resignation, Kemal Memişoğlu became the new Minister of Health.
