Fairburn (/ˈfɛərbɜːrn/) is a small town located in Custer County, South Dakota, in the United States. According to the 2020 census, 60 people lived there. It's a quiet place in a beautiful part of the state.

History of Fairburn

Fairburn was officially planned and marked out in 1886. The town got its name from a nearby stream. The word "burn" is an old Scottish word that means "creek" or "small stream." So, Fairburn means "fair creek." A post office has been helping people send and receive mail in Fairburn since 1887.
