Fairview is a small place in the U.S. state of Indiana. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it's not an official city or town. Fairview is located across two different counties: Rush County and Fayette County.
A Look at Fairview's Past
Fairview first started as a small town around the year 1828. For a while, this community was also known by another name, which was Grove.
Early Post Office History
A post office was set up in Fairview, specifically on the Rush County side. It served the community from 1830 until 1835. In 1835, the post office moved to the Fayette County side of Fairview. However, it didn't stay open for long after that. The post office officially closed down the very next year, in 1836.
