Faith, Missouri facts for kids
Faith is a small, quiet place in southern Miller County, Missouri. It's not a big city or even an official town. You can find it about six miles southwest of Iberia, close to where a small stream called Barren Fork begins.
The Story of Faith, Missouri
Faith got its start shortly after the American Civil War. A man named James Milton Wall and his wife, Mildred James, moved there. They set up a general store, a place to trade goods, a mill for grinding grain, and a blacksmith shop. They also helped start a school and a church.
James Milton Wall was sometimes called "Black Jim" because of his dark hair and features. He had traveled west from Montgomery, Virginia, looking for a new home. He and Mildred decided to name their new community "Faith." This name stuck, and the community grew from there.
Later, in 1900, a post office opened in Faith. It helped people send and receive letters until it closed in 1907.
