Folarin Falana (born 27 October 1990), known as Falz, is a talented Nigerian rapper, songwriter, and actor. He started his music journey in secondary school. He formed a group called The School Boys with a friend. Falz began his professional music career in 2009. He became widely known after his song "Marry Me," which featured singers Poe and Yemi Alade.
Falz now owns his own music company called Bahd Guys Records. He released his first album, Wazup Guy, in 2014. His second album, Stories That Touch, came out in 2015. He then released 27 in 2017. His fourth album, Moral Instruction, was released in 2019.

Early Life and School Days
Falz was born in Mushin, Lagos State. His parents, Funmi and Femi Falana, are lawyers and activists. Activists are people who work to protect human rights. Falz finished law school in Abuja in 2012. After that, he became a lawyer.
He went to St. Leo's Catholic Primary School in Ikeja. He also attended Olashore International School in Osun State. Falz later studied law at the University of Reading in England. He earned a law degree there.
Music and Acting Career
Starting Out: 2009–2013
Falz first started making music for fun in secondary school. He created a music group called "The School Boys" with a friend. In 2009, he put together some of his songs into a mixtape. He called it Shakara: The Mixtape.
In 2011, Falz released a song called "Wahz Up Guy." He then released "High Class" and "Currency." These songs helped him become known in the Nigerian music scene.
Growing Success: 2014–2016
On January 2, 2014, Falz was named one of the "Artistes To Watch" by tooXclusive. On May 30, 2014, Falz released his first studio album, Wazup Guy. The album had 18 songs. It featured other artists like Olamide and Yemi Alade. Some popular songs from the album were "Marry Me" and "High Class."
On January 31, 2015, Falz released a new song called "Ello Bae." This was his first solo song after Wazup Guy. It helped him win several awards.
In 2015, Falz was nominated for "Best Collaboration of The Year." This was for his song "Marry Me" at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He was also nominated for "Best Rap Act of The Year." He was also considered for "Best New Act to Watch."
His song "Ello Bae" also earned him a nomination. He was nominated for "Best Street Hop Artiste of The Year" at The Headies award in 2015.
On November 3, 2015, he announced his second album. It was called Stories That Touch. The album was released on November 17.

New Albums and Acting: 2017–Present
On October 27, 2017, Falz released a surprise album called 27. He released it on his 27th birthday. The album had 17 songs. It included popular hits like "Bhad Baddo Baddest" and "Wehdone sir." Many famous artists were featured on the album. These included Davido, Olamide, and Burna Boy. The album did very well. It won many awards and nominations.
In May 2018, Falz released a music video called "This Is Nigeria." It was inspired by Childish Gambino's "This is America." Falz's video showed problems in Nigeria. These included corruption and bribery.
Later, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned the song. They said it was inappropriate. Falz disagreed, saying the song was not inappropriate. He later sued the NBC for 100 Million Naira.
On September 1, 2018, Falz won "Best Supporting Actor." This was at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards. He won for his role as Quam in the movie New Money. He was the first Nigerian musician to win this award twice.
In August 2020, Falz started his own film company. He named it House21TV. He also announced a new comedy series. It was called Therapy Session. This series would be shown only on YouTube.
In March 2022, Falz announced new plans on Instagram. He deleted all his old posts. He said it was a "new beginning." He released his first song of the year, "Ice Cream," with BNXN. He also gave out free ice cream in Lagos cities.
In March 2023, Falz worked with rapper Vector. They released a song called Yakubu. This song was about politics. It criticized the 2023 Nigerian general elections. EndSARS Protests
In October 2020, Falz encouraged other Nigerian celebrities to join the #EndSARS protests. These protests happened in Lagos, Nigeria. People were asking the government to stop police brutality. Falz often speaks out about social justice issues in the country.
To honor those affected by police brutality, he released a music video for "Johnny." This song was from his album Moral Instruction. He wrote that they would never forget the people who were wrongly killed. He said, "This is for them. For every single Nigerian life snatched away unlawfully, we must make sure we get justice." He also noted that the song's message became even more important over time.
In an interview with CNN in 2020, Falz spoke about President Buhari's promise to fix the Nigerian police. Falz said this promise was frustrating. He claimed Buhari had been making the same promise since 2017.
Activism Through Music
Falz is known for using his music to speak out. He continues to release songs about social and political problems in Nigeria. During the 2023 elections, he asked young people to get more involved in politics. He also spoke about issues like voter apathy (when people don't vote) and election cheating.
His 2023 song Yakubu followed other hits like This is Nigeria. These songs show him as an artist who cares about society. He uses his music to criticize corruption and unfairness in Nigeria.
