Fanfreluche: The Magical Storyteller Doll
What Was the Show About?
The show starred a special character named Fanfreluche. She was a living doll played by Kim Yaroshevskaya. Fanfreluche loved to tell fairy tales and old legends to everyone watching. But she had a unique power! If a story started to go in a way she didn't like, she would actually jump into the story. She would then try to "fix" the ending. This often led to exciting and sometimes tricky situations for her.
The Actress Behind Fanfreluche
The character of Fanfreluche was first seen in another Radio-Canada children's show. This earlier show was called La Boîte à surprise. The same talented actress, Kim Yaroshevskaya, played Fanfreluche in both shows. She brought the doll character to life with her acting.
Where Did the Name Come From?
The name "Fanfreluche" became quite famous. A well-known businessman from Montreal, Jean-Louis Lévesque, was also a Thoroughbred horse breeder. He named one of his young female horses, called a filly, "Fanfreluche." It's thought he chose this name to make a grandchild happy. This horse named Fanfreluche became a champion racehorse in both Canada and the United States in 1970.
