Kim Yaroshevskaya (born 1 October 1923 – died 12 January 2025) was a Canadian actress. She was born in Moscow, which was part of the Soviet Union at the time. Kim was well-known in Quebec for entertaining children.
She starred in popular TV shows like Fanfreluche and Passe-Partout in the 1970s. She also had a big role in the English Canadian TV show Home Fires.

Kim Yaroshevskaya was born in Moscow, Soviet Union. When she was ten years old, her family moved to Quebec, Canada. Her first name, Kim, is actually an acronym. It stands for the International Communist Youth organization in Russian.
In the 1950s, Kim helped start a theatre group in Quebec. It was called Théâtre Le Grenier. With this group, she helped create the famous children's show Fanfreluche. Kim Yaroshevskaya lived a very long life. She celebrated her 100th birthday on 1 October 2023. She passed away on 12 January 2025, at the age of 101.
Her Acting Career
Kim Yaroshevskaya had many roles in movies and on television. Besides her famous children's shows, she appeared in films like A Woman in Transit and The Alley Cat. She also acted in Anne Trister and The Sex of the Stars.
She was also a talented stage actress. Kim performed in plays such as Lysistrata by Aristophanes. She also acted in Play by Samuel Beckett. Her stage work included The Road to Mecca and other plays.
Writing for Kids
In her later years, Kim Yaroshevskaya wrote several books for children. One of her books was called La Petite Kim, which means Little Kim's Doll. She also wrote Contes de fanfreluche. This book was a collection of stories.
Another book she wrote was Contes d'humour et de sagesse. In November 2017, when she was 94, Kim released her biography. It was titled Mon voyage en Amérique, meaning My Journey to America.
Awards and Recognition
Kim Yaroshevskaya received special honours for her work. In 1981, she was nominated for an ACTRA Award. This was for her role in the TV series Home Fires.
In 1991, she was given a very important award. She was named a Member of the Order of Canada. This is one of the highest honours a Canadian can receive.
