Kim Yaroshevskaya CM (October 1, 1923 – January 12, 2025) was an actress from Canada who was born in Russia. She acted in movies, on television, and on stage. She was very famous in Quebec for entertaining children. She starred in popular TV shows like Fanfreluche and Passe-Partout in the 1970s. She also had a main role in the Canadian TV show Home Fires in the early 1980s.

Early Life and Background

Kim Yaroshevskaya was born in Moscow, which was part of the Soviet Union at that time. Her first name, Kim, is actually an acronym. It stands for the International Communist Youth organization in Russian.

When she was ten years old, Kim moved to Quebec, Canada, with her family. In the 1950s, she helped start a theater group in Quebec called Théâtre Le Grenier. With this group, she created the character and show Fanfreluche.

Acting Career

Kim Yaroshevskaya had many roles in films and on television. Some of her movie roles included A Woman in Transit, The Alley Cat, Anne Trister, Sonia, Straight for the Heart, and L'Amour avec un Grand A. She also appeared in a film called The ... of the Stars.

She also performed in many plays on stage. These included Lysistrata by Aristophanes and Play by Samuel Beckett. She also acted in Le Grand théâtre du monde and The Road to Mecca.

Author and Later Years

In her later years, Kim Yaroshevskaya wrote several books for children. These books included La Petite Kim (which means Little Kim's Doll). She also wrote Contes de fanfreluche, tome 1 and Contes d'humour et de sagesse.

In November 2017, when she was 94 years old, Kim Yaroshevskaya released her own biography. A biography is a book about a person's life. Her book was titled Mon voyage en Amérique, which means My Journey to America.

Awards and Honours

Kim Yaroshevskaya received several important awards and honours during her life. In 1981, she was nominated for an ACTRA Award for her acting in the TV show Home Fires.
