Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Louisa Françoise "Fanny" Therese Pittar (born Krumpholtz) was a talented harp player and composer from Bohemia. She was born in Paris in 1781 and passed away in Brighton in 1862. Her father, Johann Baptist Krumpholtz, was also a famous composer and harpist. Her mother was Anne-Marie Krumpholtz.

Early Life and Royal Connections

After Fanny's father passed away, a very important lady named the Duchesse de Bourbon decided to raise her. The Duchesse de Bourbon was the mother of Louis Philippe I, who later became the King of France. This meant Fanny grew up like a sister to Louis Philippe. She lived at the French royal palace during this time.

During the time of the French Revolution, which was a period of big changes and danger in France, the Duchesse de Bourbon sent Fanny to England for safety. Fanny went to live with the Earl and Countess of Hardwicke at their grand home, Wimpole Hall. Even after leaving France, Fanny stayed in touch with the Duchesse de Bourbon by writing many letters.

In 1813, Fanny Krumpholtz married Isaac Pittar in London, England. Isaac was a person who sold diamonds and art. Fanny and Isaac had several children, including Frances Mary Jane, Isaac John, Louisa Margaret, and Caroline.
