Farhad Safinia (Persian: فرهاد صفینیا; born 1975) is an amazing Iranian-American writer, producer, and director for movies and TV shows. He is well-known for his work on the film Apocalypto, the TV series Boss, and the movie The Professor and the Madman. For The Professor and the Madman, he used a special name, P. B. Shemran.
Farhad Safinia's Early Life and Education
Farhad Safinia was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1975. When he was just four years old, his family moved away from Iran. They first lived in Paris, and then in London.
He went to a school called Charterhouse School and later studied Economics at King's College, Cambridge. While at King's College, he loved being involved in theater. He directed and acted in many plays for different student groups.
After finishing college, Farhad moved to New York City. There, he continued to study film at the New School University and at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. In the summer of 2007, he married actress Laura Regan in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Making Movies in Hollywood
Farhad Safinia's first big movie screenplay was for Apocalypto (2006). He wrote this exciting film with director and producer Mel Gibson. Farhad first met Mel Gibson when he worked as his assistant. This was during the time Gibson was finishing his movie The Passion of the Christ.
Farhad also created, wrote, and was an executive producer for the TV series Boss. This show was on the Starz TV channel. Later, he directed the 2019 film, The Professor and the Madman. This movie also starred Mel Gibson. Today, Farhad Safinia lives in Los Angeles, California.
