Farid Hamed El Abdellaoui (born June 4, 1986), known by his stage name Farid Bang, is a German gangsta rapper and bodybuilder. He was born in Melilla, a Spanish city on the coast of North Africa, to Moroccan parents.

When Farid was eight years old, he moved from Spain to Düsseldorf, Germany. Growing up, he was a big fan of the American rapper 50 Cent. 50 Cent inspired him to start rapping and to begin working out.

Some people worry that gangsta rap can be a bad influence on young people. However, Farid Bang believes his music can have a positive effect. He thinks it can help young men become more confident and mature.

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Farid Bang was born in Melilla, Spain, and spent his early childhood in Málaga. At age eight, he moved to Düsseldorf, Germany, with his mother and sister. His mother is of Moroccan heritage and grew up in Germany, while his father is from Melilla.

At 19, inspired by a friend, Farid started rapping. Another friend, Summer Cem, introduced him to the famous German rapper Eko Fresh. Farid signed with Eko Fresh's music label, German Dream. He was featured on three songs on Eko's 2005 mixtape. At that time, Farid used the stage name Farid Urlaub, which was a playful reference to a famous German singer named Farin Urlaub.

Farid Bang has released many albums and worked with other famous artists. His career is marked by successful albums that have topped the music charts in Germany.

Working with Kollegah

In 2009, Farid Bang teamed up with the rapper Kollegah. They released a collaboration album called Jung, brutal, gutaussehend (which means "young, brutal, handsome"). The album was a success, reaching number 30 on the German music charts. They filmed a music video for their single "Mitternacht" ("Midnight") in Belgrade, Serbia.

Solo Albums and Success

On March 12, 2010, Farid released his second album, Asphalt Massaka 2. It reached number 56 on the German album charts. He released music videos for several songs from the album. One video for the song "Es ist soweit" ("It's Time") even featured German soccer player Kevin Kurányi.

His third album, Banger leben kürzer, came out in 2011. It was a big hit, reaching number 11 in Germany, number 25 in Switzerland, and number 32 in Austria. To promote the album, he created a ten-part video blog on YouTube.

Chart-Topping Albums

Farid Bang's success continued to grow. His 2014 album, Killa, went straight to number 1 in Germany and Austria. His next album, Asphalt Massaka 3 (2015), also hit number 1 in Germany and Switzerland. His seventh album, Blut (which means "Blood"), was released in 2016.

In 2018, Farid Bang and Kollegah faced criticism for some of the lyrics on their album Jung, brutal, gutaussehend 3. The album had won an award for being the best-selling album of 2017, but the lyrics caused a lot of discussion because some people found them offensive.
