Early Life and First Steps in Music (1984–2007)

He went to Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium and finished school in 2005. Through his stepfather, he learned about Islam and became a Muslim. From December 2004 to May 2005, Kollegah took part in rap battles. These battles were held on an online platform called Reimliga Battle Arena (RBA). He won 11 out of 14 battles.

Blume released his first mixtape, Zuhältertape (ZHT), for free. It came out on July 20, 2005, on his website. The project had 14 songs. Blume said it was downloaded over 5,000 times in one month. The mixtape was re-released in December 2005 by Selfmade Records.

In July 2006, Blume released his second mixtape, Boss der Bosse (ZHT 2). His album Alphagene was his first project to appear on the German music charts. It entered the charts on November 30, 2007, at number 51. According to Selfmade Records, over 20,000 copies of the album were sold.

Starting His Own Label and New Projects (2016–2017)

In March 2016, Blume started his own record label. He named it Alpha Music Empire. The first rapper he signed was Seyed. Seyed's first album, Engel mit der AK, reached number three on the German album charts.

On September 2, 2016, Kollegah announced his sixth album. It was his first album under his own label, called Imperator. It was released on December 9, 2016. Imperator reached number one in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It also became his third solo album to earn a gold certificate.

On March 10, 2017, Kollegah announced his first "best-of" album, Legacy. He also announced the "Kollegah Gold-Award". This was a collection of all his albums released by Selfmade Records between 2005 and 2015. Legacy was supported by two songs: "Legacy" and "Millennium". Legacy was released on July 14, 2017. It reached the top 15 in German-speaking countries.

More Collaborations and Albums (2017–2021)

Kollegah and Farid Bang often hinted at Jung Brutal Gutaussehend 3 (JBG 3). They officially announced the album on September 8, 2017. "Sturmmaske auf (Intro)" was the first song from the album. It was announced on September 21, 2017, and released a week later. This song became a big hit for them. It was their first and only song to reach the top spot on the German single charts.

Two more songs, "Gamechanger" and "Ave Maria", were also released. Both of them entered the charts at high positions. The album was released in December 2017. It broke several records in Germany. It was the fastest rap album to be certified gold. They sold 100,000 copies in eight days through pre-orders. It was also the most streamed project in a week on Spotify by a German artist.

During a live show, they announced a new version of Jung Brutal Gutaussehend 3. It was called Jung Brutal Gutaussehend 3: Platin war gestern. This new version was planned to include two EPs. These were Älter Brutaler Skrupelloser EP and Nafri Trap EP, Vol. 1. The album was set for release in June but was moved to August 10, 2018. This was because the duo wanted to make Älter Brutaler Skrupelloser EP a full album. Nafri Trap EP, Vol. 1 was released on June 29, 2018, as an apology to their fans.

Platin war gestern was supported by three songs: "All Eyez on Us", "Mitternacht 2", and "In die Unendlichkeit". This project became their third album together to debut at number one. It topped the charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Blume released his seventh album, Monument, in December 2018. The album Alphagene II followed in December 2019. Alphagene II was his eighth album to reach number 1. In January 2021, he released Natural Born Killers (NBK). This was a collaboration album with Asche. Asche released music on Kollegah's label from 2018 to March 2021.
