Faro is a small, quiet place in Madison County, Missouri, in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county. Faro is located within Twelvemile Township.
Where is Faro Located?
Faro is situated in a scenic part of Missouri. It's found near Captain Creek, about one mile northeast of the St. Francis River. The community site is on Missouri Route O. This route runs between two interesting natural features: Arnett Mountain to the north and Rock Pile Mountain to the south.
A Glimpse into Faro's History
Faro once had its own post office. This post office opened in 1905 and served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1942. The name "Faro" itself is quite unique. People believe it was simply an invented name, meaning it wasn't named after a person or a specific event. It doesn't seem to have any special meaning behind it.
