Farrah Yousef (born July 20, 1989) is a talented singer from Syria. She became very well-known after she was the first runner-up on the TV show Arab Idol in 2013. This show helps find new singing stars in the Arab world.

Her Early Life and Start in Music

Farrah Yousef was born on July 20, 1989, in Tartus, a city in Syria right by the sea. She started singing on stage when she was only seven years old! Her first big performance was at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Center. She sang a song called "Sit Al Hbayib" for a large audience, including important people like diplomats and Sheikha Fatima. Everyone loved her performance, and from that moment, Farrah knew she wanted to be a singer.

After finishing high school, Farrah earned a special scholarship to study medicine in Italy. While there, she also learned a lot about Western music styles. She even learned to sing in English, French, and Italian! In 2011, Farrah got to sing the main song for a Syrian TV series called "Wilada Mina Al Khassira". The next year, in 2012, she sang theme songs for two more series, "Bet Amer" and "Al Amemy".

Her Journey on Arab Idol

After the first season of Arab Idol was a big hit, the second season started on March 8, 2013. At that time, there was a civil war happening in Syria. This made Farrah unsure if she should try out for the show. But her friends and family encouraged her to follow her dream. She said watching the show made her want to give it a try.

It was even hard for her to leave Syria to audition. Her car got caught in the middle of a dangerous situation as she was leaving Damascus to go to Beirut for the auditions. Luckily, she made it safely.

Viewers first saw Farrah during the audition episodes of Arab Idol season two. The judges were famous singers and musicians like Ragheb Alama, Nancy Ajram, Ahlam, and Hassan El Shafei. Farrah sang "Ifrah Ya Albi" by the legendary singer Umm Kulthum. The judges were impressed, and she moved on to the next round!

During the competition in Beirut, many outdoor cafes set up big screens so people could watch and hear Farrah's amazing voice. Farrah often thought of her family when she sang on stage. She felt a big responsibility to her audience. She said that singing brings her deep happiness mixed with a little bit of fear. Farrah believes that music can help people love each other again.
